Meet a Member – UnLock Math

The Innovation Cluster is excited to announce a member and a client of Peterborough’s first best-practice technology business incubator, The Cube – UnLock Math.
UnLock Math is in the process of working to develop interactive, online math courses with video lessons.
UnLock Math will be a useful tool to students struggling in math: providing a “virtual” tutor to help them grasp the concepts they are struggling with, while also improving their grades and confidence levels.UnLockMathNewLogo
The program can be used as a full math curriculum for homeschool students, proving an actual “teacher” in the provided videos, and engaging them step by step as they discover a love and confidence in Math.
UnLock Math also offers a valuable solution to those seeking to pass the G.E.D. on their road to a brighter future.
The online lessons will be a taught by an accomplished high school math teacher, Alesia Blackwood. Alesia is certified in both Ontario, Canada and Georgia, USA. She has helped hundreds of students improve in math and hopes to reach hundreds more with their online math courses.
UnLock Math is the brainchild of Matthew & Alesia Blackwood.
Alesia is a successful certified high school math teacher for 12+ years, and has enjoyed conveying a love of math to her students while seeing their grades and confidence improve by leaps and bounds. Alesia is a graduate of the Innovation Cluster’s Core Partner, Trent University, and is happy to be back in her hometown of Peterborough after years of teaching in the United States.
Matthew brings skills in video production, along with managerial and business talents developed through years of restaurant management, where he received numerous awards and accolades for his achievements.
