FastStart’s third annual ‘Pitch It!’ competition has launched
FastStart invites students at Trent University, Durham College, Fleming College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) to submit their innovative business ideas for the third annual Pitch It! competition for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Running for four weeks, Pitch It! culminates on Wednesday, October 4th from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Fleming College’s Sutherland Campus in a Dragons’ Den-style pitch competition before a panel of industry judges. Participating students can win $500, meet other like-minded entrepreneurs, and receive help to bring their innovative idea to market.
The event will showcase up to five contestants pitching their idea from the various business categories:
- Agriculture and Food
- Information Technology and Media
- Clean-Tech and the Environment
- Trades and Retail Business
- Lifestyle and Fashion
“This event is a great opportunity for young and aspiring entrepreneurs to push themselves into pitching a business idea and getting feedback from real professionals,” says Karen Zavitz, FastStart Co-ordinator at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (lead institution). “It is important for students to have events like this to not only showcase their great business ideas, but also practice putting those ideas into action.”
Applications close on Friday, September 22 at noon.
The final Pitch It! competition on October 4th is open to the public.
