  • Senior partner of the law firm Lockington Lawless Fitzpatrick
  • Extensively involved in community and volunteer work and is presently or has been, Chairman and Director of the Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation, Chairman and Director of Peterborough Family YMCA, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Foundation, St. Joseph’s Care Group, Wood Lake Cottagers Association, Peterborough Art School, Greater Peterborough Economic Council, the Hearing Handicapped Group Home Society and Showplace Peterborough
  • Past director of the Canadian Canoe Museum, YMCA Canada and the Peterborough Regional Health Centre

Tim Barrie

  • Honours Bachelor of Business Administration, Wilfred Laurier University
  • Masters in Business Administration, York University
  • Previously worked for General Motors in several engineering and administrative capacities at the Oshawa Car Assembly Plant
  • Manages several industrial and commercial properties in Peterborough and Oshawa
  • President and General Manager of Merit Precision Moulding in Peterborough, Ontario
  • Has served as a Director of the Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation, the Kawartha Manufacturers’ Association, the Peterborough Safe Communities Foundation, Peterborough Green-Up and the Peterborough Minor Lacrosse Association

Peter Dilworth

  • Honours B. Sc., Trent University
  • Master of Arts Degree in Economics, University of Guelph
  • Spent more than 20 years working with the BCE Inc. family of companies
  • Currently Vice-President of Finance, for Bell Aliant
  • Has spent most of his career in the areas of Finance and Economics with a focus on Operations Finance, Strategic Planning, Costing and Profitability Analysis
  • Has also testified before the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on behalf of Bell Canada on matters relating to Finance and Productivity
  • Member of the Board of Directors for NorthWestel Inc. and is the Executive Sponsor for the cities of Peterborough and Sudbury relating to Bell’s Community Outreach Program

Steven E. Franklin

  • President and Vice-Chancellor of Trent University
  • Previously Vice President of Research at the University of Saskatchewan
  • Master of Arts degree in Physical Geography and a Doctor of Philosophy in Remote Sensing from University of Waterloo
  • Previous academic appointments have included the University of Waterloo, Memorial University, the University of Calgary and the University of Saskatchewan
  • Throughout his academic career, he has assumed progressively responsible leadership roles including professor, department chair, associate dean of research, special assistant to the provost, and vice president of research.
  • Awarded the Canadian Remote Sensing Society Gold Medal in 2007
  • Has supervised more than 50 graduate students and seven Post-doctoral Fellows
  • Awarded an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant to conduct remote sensing and biodiversity research in western Australia with colleagues at Curtin University

  • Guided merger between Maxxam and Philip Analytical Services (2004) to double the size of the company to equal 1400 employees
  • Maxxam Analytics International Inc. is sold (2008), retired from company
  • Remains active on several boards and within the community

Tony Tilly

  • English Ph.D., York University
  • Professor, Chair, Dean and then Vice-President academic at Seneca College, Toronto
  • Consultant for a number of Ontario community colleges, and carried out policy and position development for the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario (now Colleges Ontario) and planning for the Ministry of Education
  • Has worked internationally in the Philippines, the Middle East, and with partner colleges in the United Kingdom and Australia
  • 2004 appointed President of Fleming College – one of Ontario’s twenty-four colleges of applied arts and technology – with campuses in Peterborough, the City of Kawartha Lakes (Lindsay), Haliburton and Cobourg
  • Vice-Chair of the Provincial Colleges Ontario Board
  • President Tilly has renewed his commitment to Fleming and the community, agreeing to a further five-year term focusing on the strategic priority of developing the Kawartha Skilled Trades Institute

Diane Richard

  • Currently working for PepsiCo Foods Canada in recent capacities of Director of Operations Quaker Canada and Procurement and Contract Mfg Frito Lay Canada and Quaker Oats.
  • Previously worked for DuPont Canada in the capacity of Mfg Manager and R&D Manager supporting several unique business units.
  • Has lead several industry and academic collaborations over her career.
  • Was the 2009 co-recipient of Leo Derix National Science and Engineering Research Council Innovation Synergy Award.
  • Has been a member of the Board of Directors for 2 years.

John Desbiens

  • Honours Degree from Queen’s University in Applied Science in the discipline of civil engineering (environmental specialty).
  • Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario since 1999.
  • Currently President and CEO at Cambium Environmental Inc. based in Peterborough, Ontario.
  • Previously managed the Environmental Consulting Services at SGS Canada Inc. and negotiated its purchase leading to the creation of Cambium Environmental in 2006.
  • Lived and worked in Buenos Aires, Argentina while providing environmental management and consulting services throughout South America.
  • Began his career at Lakefield Research Limited to offer expertise to the mining, municipal, and commercial sectors.
