From a business development perspective the Innovation Cluster seeks commercial entities interested in particular areas of research, in the hopes of building either a collaborative research agreement, partnership, licensing agreement, donation to support research or location for new or existing business.
From a research perspective the Innovation Cluster assists both start up companies and researchers with intellectual property resulting from basic and applied research. Assistance is provided through intellectual property valuation and protection, market analyses through partners, such as MaRS Discovery District in Toronto, Ontario, mentoring and assistance in obtaining funding and investment during various stages of the innovation process.
