Local Entrepreneurs and Innovation Gain Recognition at Business Excellence Awards
On October 21, Peterborough and the Kawartha’s entrepreneurs and business leaders were recognized for their achievements in business growth in various award categories.
The annual Peterborough Business Excellence Awards, hosted by the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce, went virtual for its first time, recognizing entrepreneurs and businesses for bringing new innovations, tourism, products, developments and more to the region.
Awards were given out for 22 categories, including the Innovation / Research and Development category, sponsored by the Innovation Cluster alongside Cleantech Commons. Congratulations to all three finalists, and Persian Empire Distillery/CDC Inc. for winning the award!

Rosalea Terry, Marketing Manager and Senior Innovation Specialist at the Innovation Cluster was highly recognized at the show, being represented in the 4 Under 40 category. The 4 Under 40 Category recognizes individuals under the age of 40 who are making their mark in the Peterborough area, within business and community leadership. Rosalea was among three other business leaders in the category, sponsored by BDO, and in memory of Kathy Windrem.
Rosalea was also nominated in the Businesswoman of the Year in an organization category, sponsored by Women’s Business Network of Peterborough, beside two other local women making their mark.
Shayan Faisal, Administrative Assistant at the Innovation Cluster, was recognized and awarded the Trent University Business Student Leadership Prize, sponsored by Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development.
Innovation Cluster startup Pilates on Demand also was nominated for the Health and Wellness category, taking home the award!
