The Cube houses two fully equipped Makerspaces, that offer Innovation Cluster clients in digital and cleantech industries the space and tools they need to design, test and develop their technology.

VIRTUAL & AUGMENTED REALITY ZONE

Over 50% of the startups that go through the Innovation Cluster specialize in digital technology. From virtual and augmented reality to video game and mobile app development, the Innovation Cluster supports these startups in a collaborative environment and tech ecosystem to allow them to thrive. Peterborough is the place to be when building your technology startup with an abundance of resources like the Innovation Cluster, VentureNorth, Peterborough Region Angel Network, and its welcoming business community.

The Virtual & Augmented Reality Zone opened to Innovation Cluster clients in 2017 and is the only makerspace of its kind in the region. It is home to a variety of AR/VR equipment that allows digital startups to develop and test their products. The space includes hardware such as:

  • Oculus Rift
  • Playstation VR
  • HTC Vive
  • Google Daydream
  • MSI Gaming laptop that is VR-compatible
  • And more!

H2O MAKERSPACE

The Innovation Cluster has a strong focus on supporting cleantech startups, which is no surprise since the city of Peterborough has been rated #2 in Canada and #1 in Ontario to launch a water technology startup by Water Canada Magazine. Among the abundant resources available to water technology startups, the Innovation Cluster is home to the H2O Makerspace. Over 30 pieces of cleantech equipment have been made available to startup clients working with the Innovation Cluster.

Highlights of the portable analyzers located in the H2O Makerspace for water testing available at no cost to clients include:

  • Hach Pocket Colorimeter for Chlorine
  • Hach HQ 11D Portable pH Meter
  • Hach DR 1900 Portable Spectrometer
  • Hach Portable Incubator for Bacteria Samples
